July, 2008: Appalachia Service Project (ASP) in Claiborne County, Tennessee

Our projects this year included:

Rewiring a house with a dangerously inadequate electrical system
Hanging windows and doors and sheet rocking
A room addition on a trailer
     Replacing a tin roof
     Adding two porches
Finishing a porch and ramp, adding siding, and painting

We always learn a great deal from the families we are serving about what's really important in life. In spite of the challenges they face, many are able to maintain a sense of joy, deep faith in God, thankfulness for their blessings, and appreciation to those of us who are able to come assist them.

One of our teams received a letter from a child they were helping:

"Hi. I wanted to tell you thanks for helping us fix our house. You have helped us a lot. I usually don't right ASP groups. We just say bie and they leave. But I think your about the best ASP group there is!"
