Children's House is part of the Mount Vernon Church ministry to families.
Since 2014, we have offered an option for full-time day-care, along with our regular preschool for two's, three's and four's.
• Daycare for infants 6 weeks through age 4
• Optional early drop-off before preschool beginning at 7 a.m.
• Optional stay and play after preschool with staggered pick-up options until 5:30 p.m.
• Offered Monday through Friday (minimum two days per week)
Infant and Toddler care is provided from 7 a.m. until 5:30 p.m.
Since we have limited openings for this age group, preference will be given to
those needing full-time care.
A child must be the appropriate age by October 1 in order to be enrolled in a preschool class.
A child may join a class at any time during the school year, if the class has an opening.
All preschool classes meet from 9:30 a.m. until 12:30 p.m.

Children's House is excited to be a pilot preschool in the Smart Beginnings program offered by the Commonwealth of Virginia. The evidence is clear--quality early education is the key to long-term educational success. With the majority of a child’s brain developing during the first five years of life, the quality of care and instruction a child receives during this time is critical. A high-quality preschool ensures that children engage in meaningful learning and play, guided by qualified early childhood professionals in a rich learning environment.
As a Smart Beginnings pilot preschool program, Children’s House receives mentoring and resources that enable us to provide the excellent nurturing and educational experiences appropriate for preschool children.
